Built in the 13th century by the Venetians to protect the port and the city, this Fort stands as a heritage monument to Ierapetra's fascinating history.
However, there’s a theory suggesting that it was built by Enrico Pescatore from Geneva who later sold it to the Venetians. It stands right by the sea and a significant part of it is renovated as of very recently.
Take the stroll by the promenade next to the sea and it will lead you to the Kales Fort.
