This alpine trail starts at the beautiful Bannalp alpine lake, then climbs up the mountain and winds its way around a bunch of impressive peaks.
Trail: moderate • 4 h • 10 km one way • 500m up, 350m down
See trail map.
Open: mid June to mid October • trail status • Engelberg weather
It ends in the alpine meadows, high above the Engelberg valley, where you can ride a cable car to the valley and train back to your starting point.
We love this trail for the dramatic views and lush wildflowers in summer. If you bring kids, they'll be happy to find a summer toboggan and big playground at the end of the hike, a nice reward.
This hike has some steep climbs and few exposed sections with steep slopes to the side. So best for those with hiking experience, steady footing, and a good head for heights.
