The Helen Lake hike is one of the most popular moderate hikes along the Icefields Parkway, and for good reason. The trail climbs steadily through forest and meadows, eventually opening to expansive alpine views and the stunning Helen Lake beneath rugged peaks.

Because of its popularity, the trailhead can get busy, so it’s best to arrive early to secure parking and enjoy a quieter experience. If you're up for more adventure, you can continue beyond the lake for even bigger views of the surrounding mountains. This would be Dolomite Pass and Cirque Peak, a great first scramble.
