Sannenzaka, located in the Kansai region of Kyoto, Japan is a narrow stretch of cobblestone streets lined by traditional Japanese-style buildings. Known as the “Three-year hill” due to its connection with the Japanese word for childbirth, Sannenzaka was established centuries ago by Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s wife Nene, who prayed for the safe birth of a child nearby. Together with Ichinenzaka and Ninanzaka street, this area provides visitors an experience of old Kyoto, complete with stunning temples and restaurants catering local specialties. For an ulimative immersive experience of Kyoto, make sure to add this beautiful area to your itinerary!
