Wat Pariwat is Bangkok’s most unusual and fun temple. Known as the Cartoon Temple, it's filled with interesting depictions of gods, deities, cartoon characters and superheroes carved into its ornate walls. The carvings are said to be due to a monk's fandom of David Beckham, so his figure can be found on the altar in the original building. Visitors are encouraged to explore the temple carefully as it is home to hundreds of thousands – and possibly more than a million – individual pieces. Getting to the temple by Grab or BRT bus is easy and once there visitors should take care to abide by the temple's rules of respect for those who are there to worship, as well as admire.
