Campsite

Message from Hannah Whittaker

Marahau Beach Camp is a classic Kiwi campsite by the water and a great base for exploring Abel Tasman National Park.

There are 55 sites, cabins, and a backpacker lodge. It's not a very big campsite, and probably too small to sleep that many people. But you’re only a few steps from sea kayaking tours and water taxis that head straight into the national park.

It’s relaxed; you’ll cook your dinner outside and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. I don’t think there’s anything that sounds better than that!

How to get there

Marahau is at the southern entrance to Abel Tasman National Park. If you’re driving from Nelson, it’ll take you about 1 hour. There’s no public transport to Marahau, so you’ll need your own car or campervan.
