The Waiau Kauri Grove is the largest easily accessible group of kauri on the Coromandel Peninsula and a must-stop on any road trip through this part of Aotearoa.

I can't put into words how much I love spending time in places that make me feel so small, and standing underneath these trees feels completely awe-inspiring.

The Kauri Grove is located along the 309 road, around 8km from Coromandel Town. Park your car and from there, the track into the grove is an easy 30 minutes over boardwalks and bridges. Please make sure to use the DOC shoe cleaning stations before you begin walking to stop the spread of kauri dieback disease.
