The Glenorchy Lagoon Scenic Walkway is an easy and accessible walking trail in the heart of Glenorchy town centre. The walk starts at the Glenorchy Jetty (a must-see in its own right!). It takes you around the Glenorchy Lagoon, which boasts mirror-like reflections of Mount Earnslaw/Pikirakatahi and its hanging glacier, Mount Alfred/Ari, and the mountains.

Now, I have to be honest with you and say that I didn't think this was the most interesting walk in the world. Beautiful? Absolutely. However, it becomes very repetitive after a while, and the scenery doesn’t change much as you loop around the lagoon. Perhaps I was being spoiled after hiking the Routeburn Track! However, I still think it's worth doing if you want to stretch your legs.
We’d spent most of the day driving around Paradise, so we opted to do two laps around the lake and then beeline for a real ice cream in town. I'll never say no to a sweet treat!
There is free parking at the start of the trail. I recommend bringing bug spray or insect repellant with you, as the sandflies and mosquitoes are terrible.
