Florence Hill Lookout is easily one of the top 10 coastal viewpoints in New Zealand. Perched above Tautuku Bay in The Catlins, this ultra-scenic spot offers killer views over a horseshoe-shaped bay where white sand, blue water, and native bush mash together to create a scene straight from a postcard.

Stop here if you’re driving along the Southern Scenic Route, especially if you’re heading north from Slope Point!

There’s plenty of space to park. You can also drive down onto Tautuku Beach but I’d only recommend this if you have a 4WD. Otherwise, it’s a short, easy walk from the car park to the beach, and it’s well worth the effort, especially in summer!
