Have you ever wanted to create your own piece of jewellery? Bonz n Stonz in Hokitika is the perfect place to make that dream come true and is an unforgettable way to connect with Aotearoa's culture and natural beauty.

This traditional boutique carving studio offers half-day workshops where you can craft a one-of-a-kind keepsake from New Zealand’s most treasured stones. You choose to design and carve a pounamu (greenstone) necklace or work with paua shell and bone.

The workshops are suitable for ages 8 and up, and prices start at $100 for paua and bone or $190 for greenstone. The master carvers provide locally sourced jade for you, but if you’ve found your own special stone, you’re welcome to bring it along to make your creation even more personal.

It’s a good idea to book in advance, especially during peak travel seasons, and come with a design idea in mind to make the most of your session.
