Arrowtown is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand. In fact, it was voted NZ's Most Beautiful Small Town in 2020 and then again in 2023.

The town is just 20 minutes from Queenstown and offers the perfect combination of history, charm and scenery. Plus, the shops here are to die for - rows of boutiques, old-fashioned sweet shops and buildings that transport you back in time.

Things to do in Arrowtown

In my opinion, the best things to do while you’re here is wander around the streets and have brunch in the sun. My favourite trail in the area is the Lake Hayes Loop Track, which offers incredible views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

How to get there

Arrowtown is 20 minutes from Queenstown. Drive east on State Highway 6 to Frankton, then continue for about 20 km until you reach Arrowtown.
