Kerikeri Bakehouse sell the best pies in New Zealand. There, I said it.

There are plenty of famous bakeries around the country, but the Bakehouse always seems to fly under the radar. Their pies are around $6-$7 each, and their freshly baked bread is ridiculously cheap at $4 per loaf. They also sell sweet treats, cakes, premade sandwiches, and full sit-down meals.

Their pie flavours are out of this world. I'm usually a classic steak and cheese or steak and mushroom fan, but I implore you to get their beef brisket and mac and cheese pie. Double carbs? It doesn't sound like it would work, but it does.

We make an obligatory stop here whenever we begin the drive back to Auckland. Based on the amount of time we spend here, I can't believe I don't have a photo of us actually in the bakery. But I'll remember to take one next time and update this listing as soon as I can!
