If you're driving to Aoraki/Mount Cook and looking for that famous Instagram shot, here's where to find it!

Peter’s Lookout is probably the most popular viewpoint in Aoraki and offers one of the most insane panoramic views of Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook.

You can find it approximately 13km down Mount Cook Road. It's located on the right-hand side of the road, so take care when you're pulling into the parking bay.

Because the lookout is so popular, it gets busy, and you may find crowds of people fighting to get their perfect shot. Visit early in the day if you can; otherwise, I recommend heading to the Lake Pukaki Viewpoint pinned on my map. It was completely quiet when we were there, and it was such a peaceful way to soak up the views of the mountains.
