I don’t think there’s anything more quintessentially Kiwi than a takeaway on the beach in the middle of summer (or any season, for that matter) after a long, hard day out in the sea.

Gone Burgers is right slap bang on the beach in Kaiteriteri, one of the main towns in Kahurangi (Abel Tasman) National Park. They’re one of the most popular places to eat in the area, selling burgers, fish and chips and cold drinks. The menu is small (just five burgers and one fish and chips option), but that means they focus on doing a few things really, really well. You’ll find slow-cooked beef brisket, pork belly, and Nashville chicken burgers on offer, plus a vegan and kids’ option. If you need a recommendation—order the brisket burger. You can thank me later!
