The Akaroa Lighthouse is a classic white and red lighthouse on the edge of Akaroa Harbour. IIt’s easily one of the most iconic sights on the Banks Peninsula and probably the most photographed spot in the area!

The lighthouse is a must-visit if you love good views and history, too! It was built in 1880 and is one of the few remaining lighthouses in New Zealand still open to the public. On open days ($5 entry), you can step inside to see the original kerosene lamp mechanism up close.
