The Hermitage Hotel is one of, if not the most luxurious, places to stay in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. They have incredible on-site dining options, including the Alpine Restaurant's stunning floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the mountains.

This luxury buffet offers more food options than you can imagine: slow-cooked meats, fresh seafood, cheese platters, a range of salads, sushi, desserts, and a soft-serve ice cream machine.

I am the problem child at all dining functions and have a list of dietary restrictions as long as my forearm. However, I loved dining here. There was something I could eat at every single station. If you struggle with eating out, you know how nice and relaxing this is!

Alpine Restaurant is perfect for adults and children. It's expensive, but worth it to treat yourself when you're in one of the most beautiful corners of Aotearoa.

Note: The Hermitage is very popular and books up quickly. If you would like to make a reservation at the Alpine Restaurant, I recommend making one as soon as possible. You can book online or by calling the hotel directly.

Cost for dinner:

  • Adult from $83

  • Children (4 - 14 years) from $32
