If there's one thing Mathew loves more than me, it's a hot tub. After a hike? Hot tub. Middle of winter? Hot tub. Scorching NZ summer and I don't want to sit in a boiling hot bath? Hot tub. Renting an Airbnb? It must have a hot tub. If that sounds like you, too, you'll love Waiho Hot Tubs in Franz Josef.

Tucked away, surrounded by lush rainforest, these private, wood-fired hot tubs remind me of Hot Tubs Omarama (and if you've read my guide, you know just how much I love it there!).

You get your own private tub, filled with fresh West Coast mountain water. Each tub is secluded, so you can soak under the stars, listen to the birds, and just enjoy the remoteness of the West Coast.

Waiho Hot Tubs are family-friendly (minimum age is 5 years). However, bookings after 5:30 pm are for adults only. I recommend booking in advance, even if you're not travelling with children, as these hot tubs are popular, particularly in the afternoon/evening.
