Te Whanganui-A-Hei (Cathedral Cove) is one of the most popular places on the Coromandel Peninsula and a must-visit on any North Island road trip!! It's a stunning beach with an iconic natural archway that you can reach via the 1.5-hour (return) Mautohe Cathedral Cove Track at the top of Grange Road.  If you don't want to walk, you can take a water taxi from the main carpark area on Hahei Beach. The taxi costs $80 return for adults and $60 for children (ages 3-17).

The best time to visit Cathedral Cove

Cathedral Cove is always busiest in summer (December to February). If you’re visiting during those months, I recommend getting here early or later in the day to avoid the crowds.
