Marakura Wharf, also known as the Te Anau Jetty, is hidden in Fiordland National Park and offers exceptional views of Mount Luxmore and the Murchison Mountains. It’s no wonder this jetty is plastered across social media!

One reason the jetty is so popular is that it’s only a 10-minute walk from the Te Anau town centre and the perfect road trip stop on your way to Milford Sound.

I think the best times to come to the wharf are at sunrise or sunset (both if you’re feeling energetic!). As the sun sets, the lightmountains, twink dances off the les on the lake, and fills the area with a warm, golden glow. It’s a great excuse to stay in Te Anau for a night!
