Historic

This former fishing and cannery village features brightly painted heritage buildings on stilts, connected by a wooden boardwalk.

Today, Telegraph Cove has only 20 year-round residents. In the warmer months, however, it transforms into a busy eco-tourist resort.

Johnstone Strait is home to one of the largest resident orca pods in the world. For that reason, Telegraph Cove is a popular departure point for whale-watching tours, grizzly bear watching tours and guided kayak adventures (both day trips and multi-day).

There was a major fire at Telegraph Cove at the end of 2024 but rebuilding is happening fast. Tours are still operating as normal, accommodation is still available.
