The Royal BC Museum is one of the best in the province. It's a great way to get an overview of BC's history, culture and animals in just a few hours.

Some of the highlights include the Old Town streetscape, a natural history gallery, First Nations language exhibit and the Jonathan Hunt House (a recreation of the house of Chief Kwakwabalasami from Tsaxis). All of these are permanent exhibits - there are temporary ones too.
