This challenging uphill, rugged and often muddy climb (around 120m elevation gain) is worth it for the jaw-dropping views over Cox Bay, Clayoquot Sound, the Pacific Ocean, and countless Vancouver Island peaks.

The trailhead for this unmaintained at-your-own-risk hike can be tricky to locate since it’s unmarked and has several possible trailheads.

Start at the southern end of Cox Bay beach during low tide and look for the north-facing rocks above - there are a few paths that lead up between the rocks, eventually merging in the trees. The total distance is 3.5km return from the Maltby Road parking lot.
