Cangas de Onís is your base for the next four days. A small Asturian town on the Sella river, it sits at the western gateway to the park and has been the entry point to the Picos for long enough that the infrastructure around it — accommodation, food, equipment hire — is solid without being overbuilt. It is a proper town rather than a resort and it operates at a pace that suits the mountains behind it.
