Between Mundaka and the open Basque coast, the village of Ea occupies the end of a small ría — a narrow estuary that barely qualifies as a river — with a harbor so small it looks like a model of itself.

Ea is the village that most people on the coast road drive through without stopping because there is no obvious reason to stop. The reason is the stopping itself. A coffee at the single bar on the harbor. A walk along the estuary path for ten minutes in either direction. The quality of quiet that exists in a working village that has not been converted into a destination.

Ten minutes or an hour, depending on what the week has done to your pace. Either is correct.
