Drive west along the coast to Cudillero — a fishing village built into a narrow ravine where a river meets the sea. The houses climb both sides of the gorge in tiers, painted in faded colors, stacked so tightly that the whole village looks like it is about to slide into the harbor below it.
It is one of the most visually distinctive villages on the northern coast and it knows it — there are more visitors here than in most Asturian villages. Go in the morning before the day trip coaches arrive or accept the company and focus on the harbor end of the village where the fishing boats still operate and the atmosphere is less curated.
The viewpoint above the village — accessible by a short walk up from the main road — gives you the full picture. The ravine, the tiers of houses, the harbor mouth, the sea. This is the photograph most people take from Cudillero. It is worth taking.
Practical note: parking in the village itself is limited and stressful. Use the upper car park and walk down.
