Did you know? The Brissago Islands is the ONLY botanical park on a Swiss island. Due to its location and the unique climatic conditions of Lake Maggiore, it boasts a supreme subtropical climate unparalleled in Switzerland, and serve as an ideal environment for cultivating species not found elsewhere in the country.

To come here, you can either take the boat from Locarno ( A longer ride between 40-60 minutes), or a shorter option from Ascona (15 minutes). No matter which way you depart, the boat ride is very beautiful, definitely try to seat on the deck as you enjoy cruising on the azure blue waters of Lake Maggiore and passing by colourful little villages.

Once you arrive on the islands, take your time to explore the lush greenery, including lotus blossoms, giant sequoias, and medicinal herbs, while enjoying the serene beauty of the lake. The park is super huge, with more than 2000 plant species from areas with a Mediterranean climate - such as the Mediterranean, Chile, South Africa, Australia and California - as well as those from the humid subtropical climate, such as Asia, America and Oceania. Don't miss out on the treasure hunt for kids, adding a fun twist to your island adventure!
