Cause chances are it will rain at least one day!
We had whole viewpoints ruined by clouds and rain — it happens! Even in summer, mountain weather changes fast. The good news? Switzerland is full of cozy, fun indoor spots that can save the day when your hikes and gondolas are a no-go. Here’s what we learned:
💡 Pro Tip: Always check the webcams before heading up a mountain. If it’s covered with clouds, you might want to save your money and pivot to one of these instead: Check webcams for the Jungfrau region here.
Glacier Canyon (Gletscherschlucht) → dramatic gorge walk with tunnels + bridges. Don’t miss the “Spiderweb” rope-net trampoline suspended above the river 🌊
Boulderhalle Eiger → indoor climbing/bouldering gym.
Grindelwald Museum → small but fun for a cultural hour.
Ballenberg Open-Air Museum → mostly outdoors but with 100+ historic farmhouses you can duck into between showers.
Trauffer World of Experience Museum → celebrates the town’s famous craft and iconic Swiss cows.
Aare Gorge (Aareschlucht, near Meiringen) → a dramatic narrow gorge with wooden walkways — covered enough to enjoy even in the rain.
Brienz Rothorn Steam Train → cozy ride even if views are cloudy.
Château de Chillon → medieval castle packed with winding halls and dungeons to explore.
Queen: The Studio Experience → quick but fun music stop.
Swiss Camera Museum (Vevey) → quirky, hands-on, and indoors.
Mystery Rooms → family escape rooms.
Funky Chocolate Club 🍫 → decorate your own chocolate bars.
Unterseen Village → historic streets + cafés for a cozy wander.
Trümmelbach Falls → 10 waterfalls inside a mountain (you’ll get misted, but it’s mostly sheltered).
Lido Locarno → indoor/outdoor pools + waterslides = perfect rainy-day burn-off.
Falconeria Locarno → bird shows sometimes still run in light rain (worth checking).
Madonna del Sasso Sanctuary → beautiful church with indoor areas.
👉 Remember: Rainy days can still be fun! Think gorges, waterfalls, castles, chocolate-making, or simply splashing in puddles with rain boots.
