Mürren BLM (Grütschalp Route)

One way to reach Mürren is via the BLM line: a short cable car from Lauterbrunnen up to Grütschalp, followed by a scenic little mountain train that runs along the cliffs to Mürren.

  • Why it’s popular: This route is included for free with Swiss Travel Pass, Jungfrau Travel Pass, Berner Oberland Pass, Saver Day Pass, Eurail, Interrail, or GA. and gives you beautiful views over Lauterbrunnen Valley along the way. The mountain train is especially fun for kids.

  • Stops:

    • Grütschalp – top of the cable car from Lauterbrunnen.

    • Winteregg – a fun halfway stop with a restaurant and a playground.

    • Mürren BLM – drops you at the north end of Mürren village.

  • The catch: It’s slower than the alternative Stechelberg → Mürren cable car route, which is usually the quicker way into the village.

  • Activities in Mürren:
Once you’re up in Mürren, you can wander the car-free streets, grab lunch on a terrace, or dive into bigger adventures: the flower playground,, paragliding, family-friendly hikes like the Northface Trail etc.

👉 If you have the Jungfrau Travel Pass, this is the budget-friendly way to get to Mürren. If you’re short on time, take the Stechelberg cable car instead.
