Beach by Château de Chillon

Just a short ride from Montreux (we biked here straight from our hotel!), there’s a small lakeside beach next to Château de Chillon. It’s not big or fancy, but it’s the perfect spot to cool off after exploring the castle. We spent an entire afternoon here swimming and it was just perfect.

• What to expect: A sandy area with a little beach for swimming, amazing views of the castle from the water, and plenty of space to spread out with a picnic.

• With kids: Shallow access makes it easy for kids to splash around, and the novelty of swimming right next to a medieval castle is something they won’t forget.

• Getting there: You can walk or bike the flat lakeside path from Montreux in about 15–20 minutes, or take the bus and get off right by the castle.
