Connbächli Water Trail – Flims’ Most Family-Friendly Hike 💦
This is another fun hike for kids with extras that keep them motivated! It's a gentle forest trail where kids can float wooden boats down a stream the whole way 🌲
Trail details:
📍 Start/End: Flims Waldhaus → Conn (loop or one-way options)
🚶♀️ Distance: approx. 3.5 km (2–2.5 miles) one way or 5.1 km loop
⏱️ Time: about 1.5–2 hours at a slow family pace with time to play with the boats
👶 Difficulty: Easy but NOT stroller-friendly. The path is maintained but has some sections where you're walking over bumpy tree roots.
Bonus: You can visit the "Il Spir" viewpoint platform at the end of your hike. It towers over the beautiful Rhein Gorge - the "Grand Canyon" of Switzerland!
Things to know:
🛶 You can buy the wooden boats at the Flims Visitors Information Center before starting.
☀️ The trail is best enjoyed on warm, dry days, as parts can get muddy after rain.
🍦 There’s a café and playground in Conn, perfect for a snack stop.
You can take the bus back down to town so you don't have to walk back! Be sure to have cash!
Fun fact:
The Connbächli was once an irrigation channel built over 300 years ago to bring water to Flims fields. Today, it’s been transformed into one of Switzerland’s most unique and kid-friendly nature trails — part hike, part splash zone, and 100% fun. 💧
