Mürren
Perched high above Lauterbrunnen Valley, Mürren is a car-free alpine village that feels like stepping into a postcard. Wooden chalets, flower boxes, cows in the meadows, and some of the best mountain views in Switzerland—it’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and just enjoy being there.
How to get there: Two main ways—either take the cable car + mountain train combo via Grütschalp (BLM line), or ride the cable car from Stechelberg via Gimmelwald. Both are beautiful; the Stechelberg route is quicker.
With kids:
Ride the funicular up to Allmendhubel for the Flower Park playground.
Easy family hikes like the Northface Trail or the Mountain View trail.
Paraglide or watch paragliders take off, or just wander the quiet car-free streets.
Food & views: Mürren has several cozy cafés and restaurants with terraces looking straight at the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau—it’s one of the best lunch views you’ll find in Switzerland.
Why it’s worth it: The pace here is slower than Interlaken or Grindelwald, and the car-free charm makes it easy to explore with kids. It also connects to the Schilthorn for even bigger mountain adventures.
👉 Mürren is one of the most family-friendly villages in the Jungfrau region—a place where you can hike, play, or simply sit on a terrace and stare at the peaks.
