Gruyères another charming small town that feels straight out of a storybook. Cobblestone streets, colorful flags, a castle at the end of the lane—and of course, this is the home of Swiss cheese. 🧀
The vibe: Small, charming, and super easy to wander. The main street is car-free, so kids can run ahead while you take in the mountain views.
With kids: Climb the towers at Gruyères Castle, peek into La Maison du Gruyère to see how the cheese is made, and then balance it out with a stop at the Maison Cailler chocolate factory nearby. (Cheese + chocolate = basically the best day ever.)
Why it’s worth it: You can see the whole town in just a couple hours, but it packs in history, food, and those “wow” Swiss views. Plus, it’s an easy day trip from Montreux.
👉 If you’re after castles, cheese, chocolate, and a dash of medieval magic, Gruyères delivers.
