Seewis im Prättigau is a small mountain village above Landquart known for its stunning valley views, family-friendly hikes, and one of the best cow parades in Switzerland.

Every September, decorated cows make their way down from the alpine pastures during the Alpabfahrt, a local tradition celebrating the end of summer. Families line the streets, the bells echo through the valley, and you can enjoy market stalls, live music, and local food. It’s one of those Swiss experiences that feels both authentic and fun for kids.

If you love quiet, remote, and authentic villages it's worth it to come outside of the cow parade too!

Highlights:

  • 🐮 Annual Cow Parade (late September)

  • 🚶‍♀️ Scenic hikes to Valcaus and Valzifenz

  • 🧀 Local cheese and farm stalls

  • 🏔 Panoramic views of the Prättigau Valley
