La Maison du Gruyère (Cheese Factory)

Right at the base of Gruyères village, La Maison du Gruyère is a small but fun cheese factory where you can see how the famous cheese is made. It’s quick, interactive, and easy to fit into a Gruyères day trip.

  • What you’ll see: The process of turning milk into wheels of Gruyère cheese, with a chance to peek into the aging cellars where hundreds of rounds are stacked up.

  • With kids: The tour is short and simple, with audio guides (including a kid-friendly version). Samples are included—always a win.

  • Time needed: 30–45 minutes, so it won’t take over your day.

  • Location: Right next to the Gruyères train station, at the bottom of the hill before you walk up into the medieval village.

👉 It’s not a huge attraction on its own, but paired with the castle and chocolate factory, it’s a fun way to taste a little piece of Switzerland.
