Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire is a historic gem with a story that spans 800 years. Once an Augustinian abbey, it later became a Tudor family home and even played a role in the birth of photography.

For Harry Potter fans it has has these filming sites inside:

  • The Cloisters in the Chamber of Secrets

  • Professor Snape’s Classroom

  • Professor Quirrell’s Classroom

  • The Chapter House - the room with the checked floor and that was a temporary home to the Mirror of Erised from film 1.

Getting here: The nearest train stations are Melksham (3 miles away) and Chippenham (3½ miles away). The easiest way to get here is by car. If you don't want to rent a car you can also book a guided day trip from London with the link here!
