Westminster Abbey is one of the most fascinating places to visit in London—steeped in over 1,000 years of royal and national history. It’s where every British monarch has been crowned since 1066, and it’s also the final resting place of more than 3,000 people. You’ll find the tombs of royalty like Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scots, as well as legendary figures like Charles Darwin, Isaac Newton, and Stephen Hawking. Poets’ Corner is especially moving, with memorials to Shakespeare, Jane Austen, and Charles Dickens. Walking through the Abbey feels like stepping into the heart of British history.

It is worth purchasing the tour in my opinion, but be sure to do so in advance! You can also visit for evensong at 5 pm for free.
