Helvellyn is one of England’s most legendary peaks — and for good reason. The views from the top stretch across the Lake District’s dramatic ridgelines and shimmering lakes, and the sense of accomplishment at the summit is unmatched.
There are multiple routes to the top, ranging from more gentle paths to fun scrambles. The most famous is the Striding Edge route, a narrow ridge walk that rewards you with some of the most breathtaking views in England — and a little adrenaline too! For families or those after a steadier climb, there’s also a safer, scenic route from Thirlmere or Glenridding that skips the exposed sections but still delivers incredible views.
