Limestone gorge with stunning views

Winnats Pass is a jaw-dropping limestone valley that looks like something out of a fantasy film. You can drive through it (super scenic!), but walking it gives you time to soak it all in.

Park near Speedwell Cavern or in Castleton, then walk up through the pass along the road or take one of the grassy side paths for a bit more of a hiking feel. It’s steep in parts and can be slippery, so sturdy shoes are a must.

Once you reach the top, turn around for one of the best views in the Peak District. Then either head back down the way you came or make it a loop by connecting to nearby trails.

Tip: Go early in the morning for quiet vibes and dramatic lighting—sunrise here is unreal.
