Cardada to Cimetta Chairlift
From the top of the Cardada gondola, you can hop on a second lift—a 2-seater open chairlift—that carries you up to Cimetta (1,671 m). It’s a slow, scenic ride where you dangle your feet above the forest, and kids usually love the novelty of being in an open-air sideways chair.
The ride: A few minutes, peaceful and quiet, with views opening wider as you climb higher.
At the top (Cimetta): You’ll find a viewing platform with a unique claim—you can see Switzerland’s lowest point (Lake Maggiore) and highest point (Dufourspitze in Monte Rosa) at the same time. There are also short, family-friendly walks and picnic spots with incredible views.
Details:
You can buy a ticket that includes both the Carada cable car (since you'll need that to get to this chairlift) and this chairlift. Buy this ticket at the Cardada cable car station in Oreslina (not at the Locarno funicular station).
In most cases, you'll need a round trip ticket. If you plan to hike down from Cimetta to Cardada, you can get just a one-way ticket for the chairlift and round trip on the cable car.
