Haut-de-Caux Narcissus Trail
Every spring (late May to early June), the meadows above Montreux burst into bloom with millions of wild narcissus flowers—locals call it the “snow of May.” One of the best places to see it is on the Narcissus Trail from Haut-de-Caux, an easy family hike with lake and mountain views.
The hike: 2h30 • 6.5 km one way • 160m up, 630m down • See trail map
When to go: Peak bloom is usually late May through the first half of June, but timing depends on the weather each year. Weekdays or mornings are quieter.
With kids: The trail is well-marked and not difficult—perfect for families with school-age kids. Bring a picnic and let them run in the fields (just remind them not to pick the flowers).
Getting there: Take the cogwheel train from Montreux to Haut-de-Caux (25 minutes), or drive up and park near the station.
👉 If you’re in the Montreux area in late spring, don’t miss this hike—it’s like walking through a living fairytale of flowers above Lake Geneva.
💡TIP: You can optionally start your day by riding the train to the Rochers de Naye mountain viewpoint high above Montreux. Then on your way back down, get off at the Haut-de-Caux stop for the hike.
