Trümmelbach Falls
Hidden inside the cliffs of Lauterbrunnen Valley, Trümmelbach Falls is a series of 10 powerful glacial waterfalls roaring through underground tunnels. Fed by the meltwater of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, up to 20,000 liters of water crash through here every second—it’s loud, dramatic, and unlike any other waterfall in Switzerland.
The vibe: Dark tunnels, echoing chambers, and thundering water. It feels like stepping into the heart of the mountain.
The visit: A lift whisks you partway up inside the cliffs, and from there you follow walkways and stairs to viewpoints over different cascades. The paths are well-lit and safe, but they can be wet and slippery, so sturdy shoes are a must.
With kids: Only kids ages 4+ are allowed in! Plan on 1-2 hours.
