he English Garden is hands down one of our favorite spots in Munich to let the kids run wild and for parents to catch a breather. It’s huge—over 900 acres!—so there’s tons of space for little legs to explore without feeling cramped. We loved wandering the peaceful paths, hanging out by the calm lakes, and even watching the surfers catch waves on a man-made river right in the middle of the city. Yep, surfers—right there in Munich!
One of the best parts for families is the Chinesischer Turm (Chinese Tower). It’s a beautiful beer garden where we could relax with a cold drink and some tasty Bavarian snacks while the kids had a blast on the awesome playground just next door. Seriously, it’s the perfect setup—you can sip your Radler and still keep an eye on the little ones running, climbing, and swinging away.
Our family tips for visiting:
Pack a blanket and snacks, or swing by Viktualienmarkt beforehand to grab pretzels and fresh fruit for a picnic.
The playground near the Chinesischer Turm is great for all ages—from toddlers to bigger kids who want to climb and explore.
If your kids love biking or scootering, bring them along! The park has long, safe paths that are perfect for cruising.
And don’t miss the Eisbach surfers—they’re a quick stop but a total wow moment for the whole family.
Whether you’re strolling through the greenery, chilling under the trees, or watching the kids burn energy at the playground, the English Garden is a must for any family visiting Munich.
