Arizona 89A is a scenic highway that winds through Oak Creek Canyon from Flagstaff to Sedona. The road takes you on a journey through lush high desert forests and slowly reveals more and more red rock formations as you get closer to Sedona. Along the way you'll pass slide rock, a popular swimming hole in the summer, and West Fork, a popular hiking trail in the fall and summer. Take your time driving this road since there are often pedestrians walking on the road or just off the shoulder as well as a lot of animals. The temperature in Oak Creek Canyon is usually cooler than in Sedona due to its elevation making it a great place to go to escape the summer heat or to find snow in the winter months.
