Airport Mesa Viewpoint (aka Airport Vortex) sits along the scenic Airport Road in West Sedona and is one of Sedona’s most accessible vortex sites. Sedona has five major vortexes, and this is the one closest to town and the shortest hike to reach it.

Parking right next to the Airport Vortex is extremely limited, so if you’re visiting for sunset (highly recommended!), arrive early. Otherwise, you can drive up Airport Road for about 2 minutes (this stretch of road is especially scenic) and pay $3 to park at the Sedona Airport Overlook. From there you would then hike 0.7 miles back down along the Airport View Trail (linked here) down to the vortex (do not walk along the road!).

While the Sedona Airport overlook draws bigger crowds, the mesa viewpoint is the true vortex and my preferred spot to watch the sun dip over West Sedona when I'm short on time.
