Canyon Overlook Trail is one of Zion’s best short hikes, offering big views with less effort than other trails. There are a few brief scrambles and narrow cliff sections so if you’re not steady on your feet this one might not be ideal.

This hike is the perfect alternative if you don’t snag Angels Landing permits since the viewpoint feels surprisingly similar. Parking is limited, so go early. I arrived about an hour before sunset on a weekday and was able to get a spot in my oversized vehicle so you may be able to do the same. The drive to this trail from both directions is so beautiful and scenic that if you can't find parking you can just drive the Zion Mount Carmel Highway for sunset instead and I'm confident you wont be disappointed either way!
