You have to know about weather conditions before you enter exposed alpine areas.
The weather in the alpine region can change very quickly. The Wetterstein
mountain range, for example, has therefore received its name. If you want to
avoid standing on a mountain peak during a storm or thunderstorm, you
should always carefully inform yourself about the current weather conditions.
Despite careful research and planning, however, it can happen that the
weather changes on the way and an abortion of the tour must then be
weighed up. Photography in the Alps is not always plannable and possible.
For example, if you are looking for beautiful photos in the fog or great cloud
formations, you need luck and some advance planning. A comprehensive
weather site for photographers is Windy (www.windy.com). You can even get
information about cloud bases here and who wouldn't want to stand on the
summit above a sea of clouds?
Each season exerts its own charm and has its own beauty that can be
captured via photos. From blooming, fresh green meadows in spring, to icy
frozen lakes in winter. In the Alps, the conditions for touring change depending
on the season. Peaks that are easy to climb in summer can become difficult
tours in winter. Hiking regions can become a winter sports paradise in the cold
season and are then accessible only with snowshoes or skis.
Therefore, please inform yourself beforehand, e.g. in case of snow, whether
the area is easily passable. Please pay attention to the current avalanche
situation.
