How to Get to Belarus (Minsk)
Today, there are two main ways to reach Belarus: by plane or by land (bus). It’s not always the easiest destination to get to — but it is absolutely possible.
✈️ By Plane
Belarus’s national airline, Belavia, is currently not shown in most international flight search engines because of sanctions. So you usually won’t find their tickets on platforms like Skyscanner or Google Flights.
If your bank card works on the official Belavia website, you can try booking directly there. From Belavia, you may find flights to Minsk from cities like Istanbul, Tbilisi, Baku, or Dubai.
Another good option is Flydubai, which still operates flights to Minsk via Dubai. This means you’d fly to Dubai first and then continue to Minsk.
You can also check Georgian Airways for routes via Tbilisi.
💡 Tip: Flights usually involve at least one connection, so plan your route in advance and leave enough time between flights.
🚌 By Bus (Crossing the Land Border)
You can also reach Minsk by bus from EU. Both Belarusian and European bus companies operate routes to Minsk.
Popular carriers include:
• Minsktrans (Belarusian national carrier)
• Ecolines
• Intercars
• Eurolines
The travel time depends heavily on the border crossing between Lithuania and Belarus — and this part can be unpredictable.
In ideal conditions it can take around 6 hours, but more often it’s 8–10 hours, and in rare cases even longer.
At the border, there are toilets and small shops where you can buy food and drinks.
⚠️ Important note when returning to the EU:
Lithuanian border officers usually confiscate any food or drinks you bring from Belarus, so don’t buy large edible souvenirs to take back.
When entering Belarus, however, you’re allowed to bring personal items and even up to 3 liters of alcohol.
