Step back into the 17th century at Jabreen Castle, one of Oman's most beautifully preserved architectural treasures. Unlike many forts built purely for defense, this was a palace for an Imam, a place of learning and astrology, and you can feel that scholarly peace as you wander its rooms. You'll want to have your camera ready for the incredible, intricately painted ceilings and the stunning views over the date palm oasis from the upper terraces. It’s an easy visit right off the road, so you can step out of your car and into history.
