Lamar Valley, tucked deep within Yellowstone National Park, is often called the “Serengeti of North America” and it absolutely lives up to the name. This breath taking valley stretches out in golden waves of rolling hills and open plains, creating the perfect stage for some of the park’s most incredible wildlife. It’s one of the best places to spot massive bison herds, elk, and if you’re lucky, even the elusive wolves roaming free in their natural habitat.
The magic hours here are sunrise and sunset, when the valley comes alive with movement and colour so plan to be there early or stay a little late. This is exactly when those binoculars you picked up will become your new best friend!
Before checking in at Tower Fall Campground, you could head over to the Valley if time permits for an afternoon of wildlife spotting. It’s the perfect warmup before returning in the early morning for that unforgettable sunrise experience!
