Muottas Muragl is a prominent peak in the Engadin, offering one of the best vantage points over St. Moritz, the surrounding lakes, and alpine valleys. At 2,456 meters, it’s easily accessible via a funicular, which makes it perfect for photographers who want stunning panoramas without a long hike.

The summit area also offers great hiking opportunities, with trails along the ridge and through alpine meadows, perfect for exploring the landscape and capturing different perspectives of the lakes and mountains. Summer is great for vibrant landscape shots and wildflowers, while winter transforms the area into a snowy wonderland, ideal for crisp, high-contrast photography. The funicular ride itself can provide interesting perspectives of the slopes and surrounding forests.

Photography tip: The funicular operates late into the evening because of the restaurant at the summit, making Muottas Muragl an excellent spot for sunset photography. You can capture warm light spilling over St. Moritz and the lakes below, with the peaks in the background—a perfect combination of landscape and mood. Wide-angle shots work well for panoramas, and telephoto lenses are great for isolating details of the lakes or mountains.
